Want to reach new people for your arts and cultural events? A new partnership between Creative Montco and Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board wants to help.
Creative Montco is excited to announce a new initiative partnering with the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board to promote arts and cultural places and events across the county. This is a major step for Creative Montco, a volunteer group that has been working to implement the county’s 2012-22 cultural plan. During that planning process, people overwhelmingly expressed a desire for greater access and more consistent information about cultural events and opportunities. Likewise, arts and cultural presenters —from museums to informal groups— needed better ways to promote their offerings.
Creative Montco and the Valley Forge Tourism and Conventions Board (VFTCB) share a similar goal to promote Montgomery County as a great place to live, work and visit. While one focuses on the creative sector and the other’s paramount concern is for increasing the tourism business, both recognize the important role cultural “attractions” play in creating destinations for visitors and tourists.
This joint initiative would work to launch creativemontco.net as the tool for collecting arts and culture events and information. The web site will have both a creative business directory and event calendar. Each will be able to be searched by multiple categories, including type of event or service and location. Event listings will be linked and promoted through VFTCB’s established multiple marketing channels – Make it Montco promotions, social media, advertising and the web site. This connection would instantly extend the reach of creativemontco.net to VFTCB’s 20k followers on social media and 30-40k visitors to valleyforge.org each month. VFTCB would gain access to the cultural network Creative MontCo has gathered. This network of over 370 nonprofits alone represents a valuable source of content expertise and potential collaborators that can help to promote tourism in Montgomery County.
Creative Montco will concentrate on building participation and communication among event organizers and venues. The VFTCB marketing and communications team will work with the volunteers/future staff of CM to identify opportunities for special promotion and highlight them within their marketing activities. Together, the team will make sure that messaging is clear and coordinated, event information is streamlined and user-focused, and that feedback is given on the success and challenges of meeting the outcome everyone desires – more visitors, patrons and program participants.
Creative businesses and cultural providers in Montgomery County wishing to participate need only to register for an account (Go to Resources> For members> User Login) to begin the process. User members will be able to enter and manage their own listings. A link to guides about how to best use the Event Directory and Business Listing is there. Any questions or feedback? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration is free for a limited time.
