Details: Don’t miss out on this wonderful Thanksgiving Day family tradition. All ages are invited for fun and fitness. The Gobble Wobble 5K run course winds through a beautiful, residential area of Abington Township with rolling hills, while the 2 mile walk is a predominantly flat course. The race will finish Olympic style on a beautiful new track. All proceeds of this event benefit the Abington Y Financial Assistance program, insuring that no one is turned away from YMCA services due to inability to pay. Race Amenities include: • Beautiful neighborhood course with an Olympic style finish • Chip timing with staggered start by time • Long sleeve cotton t-shirt while supplies last • Winners in 5-year age increments • Post event refreshments; Indoor facility available; DJ and fun for the entire family. Details: Tours of the Pennypacker mansion during the holidays are a reflection of Christmases past when shimmering glass ornaments dangled from tree branches and shiny ribbons were woven through mantle greens and provided shine when families did not have electricity in their homes. Hear the story of how our modern-day Christmas all began. All ages welcome. Tours take approximately 1 hour, last tour at 3 pm. FREE, suggested donation $2/person. Holiday tours are offered Tues., Nov. 21st thru Sun., Jan 7, 2018. Holiday Tour Hours: Tues-Sat: 10 am to 4 pm; Sun: 1 to 4 pm. Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Day, and New Year's Eve & Day. Groups of ten or more should contact the site for a group tour. Details: Pottsgrove Manor announces the opening of our holiday tour, Twelfth Night, which runs from November 24, 2017, to January 6, 2018, during our normal museum hours. The manor will be decorated with holly and greenery to celebrate the winter season as lavish dessert displays alongside party games and activities will transport visitors back to the 18th century. Guided tours throughout the house will focus on the special activities of both the Potts family, their holiday guests, and the household servants and slaves. See the Holly Man festively adorned to greet the guests of the Potts and learn about colonial parlor games such as Snapdragon. Experience how household servants prepared for the holiday season as the special foods, decorations, and traditions required their attention. Children can also make a holly craft they can take home to bring a sense of history to your holiday. Discover the origin of some favorite winter traditions and discover new ones too!
