Details: Come take an airplane ride for just pennies-a-pound on September 23rd and September 24th at Pottstown Heritage Airport. Take a ride in an aircraft for just twenty cents per pound (minimum $10 and maximum $30). The Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of The Ninety-Nines will host their annual Pennies-A-Pound flying event at Pottstown Heritage Airport. Adventurers will get a twenty minute plane ride over Montgomery County in a small aircraft flown by one of our volunteer pilots. The tradition of pilots giving airplane rides to the public for just a penny per pound of a passenger’s weight started in the 1920s. The Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of The Ninety-Nines is proud to continue this tradition as a way to exemplify the role.   The event takes place (weather permitting) at Heritage Field Airport, KPTW, 3310 W Ridge Pike, Pottstown, PA 19464. Event Name: Revolutionary War Encampment Walk

Details: Come hear the story of the encampment of Gen. Washington and his soldiers as we walk on the grounds noting where soldiers camped and to see the gravesites where they were buried. All ages; FREE, suggested donation $2/person. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing and shoes. Stay after the walk for a guided tour of the mansion where there is a new temporary exhibit. In the fall of 1777, an encampment took place at the Mills during the Revolutionary War. From here, General Washington’s troops marched into Philadelphia and fought the Battle of Germantown, then retreated back to their old camp. On display will be artifacts found on the property including an actual order from General Washington. Included on all tours. All ages; FREE, suggested donation $2/person.
