Details: Needlework throughout history has been an art form associated with women. From young girls who made samplers to older women who embellished clothing, the exhibit will show a variety of samplers, redwork, embroidered table scarfs and more. Included on all tours. Closed on Mondays & County holidays. Pennypacker Mills is the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family. Set on 170-acres of bucolic farmland, the mansion is completely furnished and houses an extensive collection of official and personal artifacts of the Pennypacker family. Details: Arcadia Exhibitions is pleased to announce “Living Rocks: Benton Spruance and the Lithographic Process” on display from November 14 through December 17, 2017 in the Arcadia University Art Gallery, located in the Benton Spruance Art Center. The exhibition explores Spruance’s commitment to the medium with which he was so closely associated by exhibiting the preliminary materials generated during the painstaking process of producing his completed works. On display will be examples of Spruance’s initial sketches (rendered in ink, pastel or paint), resulting proofs, and color tests alongside examples of the finished prints. These pairings have been selected to represent various stages of visual evolution throughout Spruance’s long and prolific career. The gallery is free and open to the public. Details: The Norristown Arts Building (NAB Arts) opens up its studio doors and gallery spaces to visitors for its “21st Annual Studio Open House and Exhibition”. A public reception and open studios will take place on Sunday, December 3rd from 1:00-5:00 pm including refreshments and live music by Guitarist Charlie Martini. The group show will run December 1st through January 5th, 2018. This is a rare opportunity to meet the artists and get a "behind-the-scenes" look at their private workspaces. Delight in the sights and sounds of a bell choir performing on the mansion porch, families can visit with our Victorian Santa Claus to share Christmas wishes & a photo, and our living historians who will bring the mansion to life for the holidays! Enter our kitchen to see a Clear Toy Candy demonstration. Every child wished for a piece of this sweet treat in his/her stocking at Christmas! All ages welcome! The Museum Shop is stocked with beautiful, vintage inspired decorations, children’s toys and books, ornaments (hand-blown glass, glass icicles, Dresden’s), Clear Toy Candy, Wilbur Bud chocolates, and much more!
