Details: Tours of the Pennypacker mansion offer visitors a glimpse of the lives of this well-educated Pennsylvania family, the social and cultural times they lived in, and what servant life was like here. Visitors will tour through two floors of the mansion, including the Galleries where changing exhibits highlight life in the early 20th century. Visitors will also see the Cook’s bedroom and enter the Servant’s area where they’ll discover what it was like to cook on a coal stove and what modern conveniences were available to both the family and their servants. FREE, suggested donation $2/person. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm; & Sunday, 1 to 4 pm. Closed all Mondays & County Holidays. Tours are offered year-round & take approximately one hour. Ring bell and wait until a staff person answers. Last tour at 3 pm. Groups of 10 or more should contact the office in advance to arrange a tour.

Details: Arcadia Exhibitions is pleased to announce “Living Rocks: Benton Spruance and the Lithographic Process” on display from November 14 through December 17, 2017 in the Arcadia University Art Gallery, located in the Benton Spruance Art Center. The exhibition explores Spruance’s commitment to the medium with which he was so closely associated by exhibiting the preliminary materials generated during the painstaking process of producing his completed works. On display will be examples of Spruance’s initial sketches (rendered in ink, pastel or paint), resulting proofs, and color tests alongside examples of the finished prints. These pairings have been selected to represent various stages of visual evolution throughout Spruance’s long and prolific career. The gallery is free and open to the public. Details: Needlework throughout history has been an art form associated with women. From young girls who made samplers to older women who embellished clothing, the exhibit will show a variety of samplers, redwork, embroidered table scarfs and more. Included on all tours. Closed on Mondays & County holidays. Pennypacker Mills is the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family. Set on 170-acres of bucolic farmland, the mansion is completely furnished and houses an extensive collection of official and personal artifacts of the Pennypacker family. Details: The Artful Home at Orchard Artworks offers beautifully crafted items to enhance your home for the Holidays and beyond. The walls feature paintings by Gillian Bedford that recall scenes from her 2017 western sabbatical. Works by other member artists from pottery and baskets to fiber and wood grace the tables.   The show starts Sunday, October 29 with an opening reception from 1 - 4 pm. It runs until Sunday November 26. Gallery hours are 10 am-4 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as 1-4 pm on Sundays.
